Meet the producer

Born in Hong Kong but raised in Donegal, Kwanghi spent every day in the aroma of his family’s Buncrana-based Chinese restaurant. For over 30 years he has worked as a chef, creating revered dishes, and observing the evolution of trends in Asian cuisine within Ireland and Southeast Asia. 

In 2011, he became Head Chef at the Michelin-starred Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, Co Waterford and in 2015, he took on the role of director of Soder+Ko in Dublin. In 2016 he then launched his own sauces and condiments Range, ChanChan, available across in major supermarkets and artisan stores, fast forward to 2023 Kwanghi re-branded it to East by Kwanghi Chan. 

His restaurant and food truck, Bites by Kwanghi, was the winner of both RTÉ’s Battle of The Food Trucks and Street Food of The Year 2021 from Georgina Campbell’s Ireland Guide. 

Kwanghi is the author of Blasta Book #4 WOK, the first Irish-Chinese cookbook to be published, is a collection of recipes including some of his favourite meals that he grew up with and some of the fusion flavours that Kwanghi loves, as well as dishes influenced by his travels to Asia, from the flavours of the street food vendors to refined three-star Cantonese dishes.

Kwanghi Chan had written the cook book called 'WOK', it is know to be the first ever Irish Chinese cook book to be the first cook book to be published. 'WOK' had won the 28th Gourmand World Cook Book Awards 2023 Blasta Books in the Chinese cook book category.
